​Congratulations to Hadiya Harrigan!

Hadiya will be graduating in May with a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering in Material Science. She obtained her MS in 2022. Hadiya has served faithfully in the RDTAC since graduating from Tuskegee in 2018 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.  In the RDTAC, she has served as the Secretary, Assistant Secretary,  Chair of the Technology Committee and developed & implemented the RDTAC website at RALEIGH-DURHAM TUSKEGEE ALUMNI CLUB (RDTAC) - Raleigh-Durham Tuskegee Alumni Club (RDTAC) (raleighdurhamtuskegeealumni.com). Hadiya has also attended countless College Fairs with the President through the years. 😊  The RDTAC is invited to the event above.  The actual graduation has limited tickets.  Currently, I don’t know her future plans, but I’m sure her future is  BRIGHT !

• Thank You Renesha Smith and Morgan Wiley for accompanying me to the Black College Expo. hosted at Johnson C Smith University yesterday.  We were well received by current high school students & students currently enrolled in various colleges interested in transferring.  There were over 50 HBCU’s represented.  Attached are pictures and will be posted on our website.

​Happy Black History Month RDTAC!

I hope you are celebrating this special month with some kind of acknowledgment such as viewing a black movie(we watched Red Tails on Saturday), eating at a black owned restaurant or wearing an African outfit.  Tuskegee University is celebrating with a series of Black History Month lectures.  As we all know, “Tuskegee University IS Black History”.

​Happy New Year RDTAC!

2023 was a great year for the RDTAC.  Accomplishments include:

1. For the first time, the RDTAC awarded 2 $1,000 scholarships to students – one in North Carolina and one in South Carolina.  Both plan to be members of the RDTAC when they graduate!  This was accomplished by our extraordinary 2023 Calendar sales sold all over the country.  Which, by the way. . .
2. The 2024 Calendars are sold out!  😊  Alumni, if you possess any calendars you did not sell, please let me or Henry Wall know.  We are scrambling to fill orders still coming in.  Not a bad problem to have.  😊  Henry will have a full Calendar report at the next meeting.
3. The RDTAC Membership has grown to 24!  The highest number we’ve seen in years.  YOU can still be a member and support Mother Tuskegee.  Mail your dues, $75-single and $145-couple to:  Melvin McCain, [Contact RDTAC for Address].

​2023 is behind us and 2024 is before us and I’m sure WE can accomplish so much more.  In saying that, I invite each of you to join us at the 1st RDTAC Meeting of 2024 on January 20th at 2:00 pm.  Please note the date change.  The 13th is the MLK Holiday weekend, and I will be out of town.  My apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.  The meeting will be at the home of Gary and Alicia Wiley, located at [Contact RDTAC for Address].

Greetings RDTAC,

Sadly, Tuskegee University’s 9th President, Charlotte P. Morris, will retire next spring.  Trustee Jonathan Porter ’95, senior vice president for customer operations for Alabama Power, will chair the 15-member search committee, which includes University Trustees, faculty, staff, students, alumni and the broader Tuskegee community.  They will provide a recommendation to the full Board.

The 2024 RDTAC Calendars are now available.  Calendars can be picked up at the next meeting, Saturday, November 11th at 2:00 pm.  Gary and Alicia Wiley will host the meeting at their home located at:  [Contact RDTAC for Address].  The Agenda will be sent later this week.  If you cannot attend but would like to receive calendars, contact Henry Wall (919) 264-7259.  Please come out for business, food and fellowship.

Happy Fall RDTAC!

The 2023 TU Homecoming is now in the books.  A fantastic time was held by all who attended, including yours truly.  The officially attendance was 31,726.  Unfortunately, Tuskegee lost to Edward Waters 38-41.  ☹  Because of Homecoming, the October RDTAC Meeting is moved to this Saturday at 2:00 pm.  We will meet at the home of Gary and Alicia Wiley and the address is as follows: [Contact RDTAC for Address].

The 2024 RDTAC Calendars are printed and can be picked up at this Saturday’s Meeting.  The Calendars are the RDTAC’s major fundraiser and provides scholarships to our undergraduates.  To date, we have awarded $6,000.00 and donated to our Endowment Fund at Tuskegee University.  Please visit the RDTAC website at www.raleighdurhamtuskegeealumni.com to see the past Scholarship recipients.  We ask that each member sell at least 10 calendars and continue to support the RDTAC.  Please see the cover below:
