                                                         Homecoming 101: The Renaissance

Happy TU Homecoming RDTAC!

Unfortunately, I will not be attending this year.  I've been traveling extensively this fall and decided to stay put.  If any alumni are attending homecoming, please let me know.  Thank You to all the members who donated & attended the Morehouse/TU Watch Party.  Although TU lost the game, we still had a great time fellowshipping & connecting.  Please see the pictures below with the President of the Morehouse Club, Terry L. Peterkin II, and the 2nd Vice President, Xavier Larkin.  We're hoping to connect again during basketball season.
RDTAC, the 2026 calendar is complete.  We will be distributing them at the November meeting next Saturday, the 8th.  We ask that every member take 10 calendars to sell or donate the $.  Remember, this is how we raise money for the annual scholarship ($1,000) and our endowment fund.

The November RDTAC meeting will be at the Durham Library located at 300 N Roxbury Street, Durham, room 4347(4th floor) at 2:00 pm.  The agenda and the Zoom link will be sent next week.  After the meeting we are dining at Dame's Chicken & Waffles located at 455 S Driver Street, Durham, as always, to support black businesses.  Please note the new address.  The new site is larger and the parking is easier.  Bring cash, as it will be 1 ticket for the entire group.

Enjoy Homecoming and see you next Saturday!

Happy October RDTAC,

Just a friendly reminder of the events this Saturday.  The RDTAC meeting will be this Saturday, October 4th at 5:00-6:30pm at the home of Gary and Alicia Wiley, [Contact RDTAC For Address]  The agenda is attached.  The main item is approval of the 2026 Calendar.  For those who cannot attend in person, the Zoom link is as follows:

[Contact RDTAC For Zoom Link]

The watch party of the TU/Morehouse game will be after the meeting at 7:00 pm.  Please see the attached flyer.  The SpellHouse alumni have indicated that they will have 10-15 in attendance.  The RDTAC will probably have about the same numbers, making the total 25-30.  The RDTAC is donating barbecue & fried fish and SpellHouse has agreed to donate sides & deserts.  Again, we are asking for donations(either $ or food) from the RDTAC alumni.  We don't want to use any unbudgeted $ from the checking account, as we still have the 2026 calendar to publish and dues to send to the TNAA.

Lastly, this is your last opportunity to pay your dues before they are sent to the TNAA for the 2026-2027 year.  2026 is an election year for the TNAA.  If you are not financial, you will not be able to vote.  Dues are $75.00 (single) or $130.00 (couple) and can be mailed to: [Contact RDTAC For Address] or Cash App

See you Saturday and wear your TU paraphernalia!

Good afternoon RDTAC,

Although I was born in November, my favorite month has always been September.  Why?  Colleges and schools are back in session; the night air is just a bit cooler and its FOOTBALL TIME.  Congratulations to the Golden Tigers for winning their season opener against Winston-Salem State at the Red Tails Classic on Sunday!  It's nice to be 1-0.

I sincerely hope everyone had a nice summer break. Now it is time to get back to work serving Mother Tuskegee and September & October are going to be busy.  Here we go...
  1. Our first meeting back will be next Saturday, September 13th at 10:00 am via Zoom.  Please note the time change.  I will be attending the TU vs Jackson State game in Jackson, MS at 3:00 pm.  The Zoom link and the agenda will be sent next week.
  2. Henry and I are working on the 2026 RDTAC calendar now.  The calendar will be sent to the publisher after the club's approval at the October meeting.  We decided to wait to publish until after the following important upcoming events:
  • September 6th - The 1st night game
  • September 13th - TU vs Jackson State
  • September 20th - The Investiture of Dr. Mark Brown
I will be attending all the events and imputing the pictures in the calendar.  If you have any pictures to submit or would like to assist with the calendar, please let us know.
    3. The RDTAC has been invited again to represent Tuskegee at the 10th Annual HBCU College Fair September 27th , 10:00 am-2:00 pm at Cary Academy.  This is one of          the premier college fairs in the area with over 800+ students and parents who attend.  If you would like to join me, please let me know ASAP.  I need to send the       numbers in for the lunch orders.
4.The October meeting will be October 4th at 5:00-6:30 pm at the home of Gary and Alicia Wiley, [Contact RDTAC For Address].  Please note the date and time change and mark your calendars.  Again, we will review and approve the 2026 calendar.  After the meeting, we are hosting a watch party for the TU vs Morehouse game at 7:30 pm.  The Morehouse Club is excited to fellowship with us, as they loose another rivalry game.  The game starts at 8:00 pm.  Food logistics will be discussed at the September meeting.

Please visit the RDTAC website to see the updated pictures of your President attending the Southeastern Region 65th Biennial Conference in July in Columbus, GA and the 2025 RDTAC Scholarship recipient-Morgan Wiley.  A special thanks to Princess for stepping up as our new "Hadiya" and Michael Robinson for stepping up to present the check on behalf of Agatha Carroo.  It truly takes a village.

RDTAC, we currently have a vacancy in the Secretary position.  Amanita Thomas stepped down in June for personal reasons. Amanita did a wonderful job, and we thank her for her service.  Please let me know if you would like to serve in this position.  Again, it takes a village.

Lastly, DUES ARE DUE NOW.  Melvin McCain, the treasurer, is preparing to mail the check this month to the TNAA for all members who have paid.  Dues are $75.00 (single) or $130.00 (couple) and can be mailed to:  Melvin McCain [Contact RDTAC For Address]

My apologies for the long email, but we have been on vacation for 3 months.

See you next Saturday!

June 2025 Updates

Happy June RDTAC,

Juneteenth is a US federal holiday celebrated annually on June 19th to commemorate the ending of slavery.  The name, first used in the 1890's, is a portmanteau of the words "June" and "nineteenth", referring to June 19, 1865.  June 19th is the day Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas.  Juneteenth became the first new federal holiday since Martin Luther King Jr. Day was adopted in 1983.

RDTAC, although June is our "vacation" month, we are still quite busy!  Below are the June updates:
  • The RDTAC will be hosting an "HBCU Juneteenth Mixer" on Friday, June 20th from 6:00-9:00 pm at Level 7 Rooftop Bar, 101 Park at North Hills Street.  Please see the attached flyer.  All known local HBCU Club Presidents will receive the flyer today.  Please forward to anyone you know.  I am requesting that we all wear TU paraphernalia.
  • The Southeastern Region Conference is scheduled for July 17-20 in Columbus, GA.  I will be attending and have already registered.  Attached is the flyer that I submitted on behalf of the RDTAC for the souvenir journal.  I purchased a full page for $207.00 to show that the RDTAC is officially BACK!  A special thanks goes out to Victor Harris and his graphic designer for compiling the ad.    We'll discuss reimbursement at the September meeting.  If you plan to attend the Conference, please let me know.
  • The RDTAC are now members of the TNAA as well as the Southeastern Region.  Dues have not changed and are now due.  The calendar year for the TNAA is June-June every year and your dues are disbursed as follows:  Southeastern Region ($10.00), the TNAA ($35.00) and the balance goes to the RDTAC.  Dues are $75.00 (single) or $130.00 (couple) and can be mailed to:  Henry McCain [Contact RDTAC for Address]. Dues can also be sent, via Cash App,[ Contact RDTAC for CashApp Information]
  • Henry Wall and I are beginning to draft the 2026 RDTAC Calendar.  We plan to send to the printer by the end of September.  We want to get pictures from the 1st night football game to be held on September 6th vs. Central State, the September 13th game vs. Jackson State in Jackson, MS and the Investiture of Dr. Mark A. Brown on September 19th-21st.  I will be attending all the events.  If you would like to be added to the Calendar Committee or have any pictures to share, please let us know.  We welcome any and all assistance!
  • A Special Thanks to Amanita Thomas for serving as the Secretary for the RDTAC for 5 years.  Amanita's daughter graduated from Tuskegee in 2023 and there are new things on the horizon for her.  We wish her well.  If you would like to serve as our new Secretary, please let me know.

Remember... "No one can whistle a symphony. It takes a whole orchestra to play it"  H.E. Luccock

See you on June 20th!

Blessings,
Alicia F. Wiley, ’94 & ‘97
